“Charlie’s Story” was recorded at Union Sound Company and Raventape Music Room in Toronto and mixed by Alex Gamble (Alvvays, Broken Social Scene, Arkells), who recorded the band’s self-titled album in 2017 and 2019’s sophomore record Survivor. The song unfolds as a raw and unfiltered portrayal of the internal battles faced by individuals grappling with mental health issues. Through vivid storytelling, the song confronts themes of self-harm, desperation, and the profound impact on loved ones.

“It was important for me to showcase the fact that we are all susceptible to mental health issues based on any number of factors, in this case loss,” says Michelle Mondesir, the band’s lyricist and lead singer. “Mental health is as important as any other aspect of human health and it is important that we start to appreciate this and reduce the stigma surrounding it so that when issues arise they can be addressed without shame or worry about how one will be treated.”

“Charlie’s Story” is a testament to the band’s ability to blend gritty, high energy rock with socially conscious lyrics. The accompanying music video, set to release in early June, promises a visually captivating experience that complements the song’s depth. The band will also be supporting “Charlie’s Story” with performances at NXNE on June 12th and at Toronto Pride on June 28th.
